Tamron Announced 4 New FE Lenses for Sony E-mount

Tamron today officially announced four new FE lenses for Sony full frame mirrorless cameras.

These lenses are Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 Lens (B&H Photo), Tamron 24mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 Lens (B&H Photo), Tamron 35mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 Lens (B&H Photo) and Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD Lens (Development Announcement).

The set serves as an accessible means for Sony photographers looking to build a collection of wide-angle primes. All three lenses are compact and lightweight, guaranteeing they won’t take up too much space in your bag. The 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD Lens will be released in the Spring of 2020, currently no price info yet.

All these three Tamron FE lenses will be priced at $349. The 24mm and 35mm will arrive on November 20th, with the 20mm to follow in January. The lenses are the same size and same weight (around 215g/7.6oz), and use the same 67mm filter thread.

Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens to be Announced Soon

Tamron recently has teased four new FE lenses that will be announced soon. According to recent reports one of the telephoto zoom FE lens will be Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III RXD lens designed for Sony E-mount.

This Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III RXD lens will be a very compact lightweight lens compared to Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens.

Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens Price is $899

The US price of the Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD FE lens for Sony E-mount is $899 and now available for pre-order.

The 17-28 is marketed as the ideal companion to Tamron’s excellent 28-75mm lens, adding a useful wideangle range. The 17-28 is 9cm (3.9″) long and weighs in at 420g (14.8oz.).  The lens is sealed against dust and moisture.

Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens Price Will be $899

The US price of the Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD FE lens is expected to be around $899 – $999.

From the first reviews, the lens has superb optical quality, as is the FE 28-75mm f/2.8. It will have a competitive price around $899 much lower than Sony lenses.

Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD Announced for full-frame Canon, Nikon DSLRs

Tamron has announced what it calls ‘the finest lens in its history’, introducing the new SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD (Model F045)  for full-frame Canon and Nikon DSLRs.

The new Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD features an optical construction of 14 elements in 10 groups, with four Low Dispersion and three Glass Molded Aspherical lens elements. Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD FE Test Results : Sharp with Fast AF

Patent : Tamron 485mm f/5.8 Lens for Micro Four Thirds

Tamron has filed a new patent in Japan. This patent describes a Tamron 485mm f/5.8 lens for mirrorless cameras with Micro Four Thirds image sensors.

If we see this in mass production than it would be Tamron’s second optic for Micro 4/3rds. First one released back in mid-2014 as the Tamron 14-150mm F/3.5-5.8 Di III ($399).
