Panasonic Firmware Updates for Lumix S1, S1H, S1R, S5 and BGH1

Panasonic has announced major firmware updates for its LUMIX S Series full-frame mirrorless cameras DC-S1H (Ver.2.4), DC-S1 (Ver.2.0), DC-S1R (Ver.1.8), DC-S5 (Ver.2.2) and its Micro Four Thirds box-style mirrorless camera DC-BGH1 (Ver.2.0) to further enhance functions, performance and usability.

New Firmware Update for the LUMIX S1R, S1H and S1 Cameras

In addition to the announcement of Panasonic Lumix S5, Panasonic has also announced that they will be releasing firmware update for its existing S-series of full-frame mirrorless cameras to enhance functions and usability by the end of 2020.

Panasonic S1R will be able to capture 5K video but the greatest significance is likely to be enhanced autofocus performance for the S1, S1R and S1H.

Panasonic says the firmware update will arrive by the end of 2020, and we have to say, we’re pleased to see significant updates making their way into the company’s existing cameras.

Panasonic Lumix S1H Firmware Update with RAW Video Output

Panasonic released the RAW Video Data Output over HDMI firmware update program (firmware version 2.1) for its LUMIX S1H camera after delaying its release back in May.

The new firmware for the Panasonic full-frame mirrorless camera enables the output of maximum 5.9K/29.97p and 59.94p 4K RAW video data over HDMI to the Atomos Ninja V HDR monitor-recorder and saves it as Apple ProRes RAW. In addition, it further complies with 3.5K Anamorphic 4:3 standard.

Panasonic Lumix S1H Firmware Update 2.0 Released, RAW video output delayed

Panasonic has released firmware version 2.0 for the Lumix S1H; however, the much-anticipated option to record 5.9K ProRes Raw video to an Atomos Ninja V has been delayed.

It was supposed to be included with a firmware update that was released yesterday for the S1H, firmware version 2.0. Panasonic released all the details of the firmware update back in April.

Panasonic says the delay is down to a technical issue which the company hasn’t been able to resolve in time for the release. Panasonic says the Raw video data output function will be provided separately in the next firmware release.
