Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens Update – Price: $6,000, Weight: 2.3 kg

The upcoming Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens is expected to be announced on April 4th (±1 day), 2022. Nikon Rumors posted some additional information about the Nikon’s super-telephoto lens “NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR PF S”.

Official announcement: April 4th or April 6th (±1 day)
Scheduled to start shipping in May
Professional-grade lens with “amazing” performance
Optical performance equivalent to the F-mount lens “Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR“
Price: Approximately $6,000 based on leaks from China (check the pricing info at B&H)
Weight: 2.3kg (half the weight of the F mount version)
This lens has already started mass production

Considering that the conventional “AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR” is a large lens with a total length of 461mm and a weight of 4,590g for $16,296.95, this new Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S lens becomes a surprisingly small, lightweight and low-priced lens. Since it is using a diffractive optical element, I am concerned about flare resistance when backlit, but I feel that it is acceptable if the price is $ 6000. It is rumored to be coming soon, so stay tuned for more information in the future.

Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens Announced, Price $1,099

Venus Optics has announced the new Laowa 20mm f/4 ultra-wide-angle shift Lens. The US price of this lens is $1,099 and available in 8 mounts including Canon EF and RF, Nikon F and Z, Sony E, Pentax K, L mount and Fujifilm G mount (via an adapter). Laowa Lenses are sold at Adorama and B&H.

Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift is an ultra-wide-angle shift lens that you cannot resist. On top of the high image sharpness and nearly no distortion (Zero-D), the lens also comes with a rotatable lens hood for avoiding flares and protecting the front lens element.

The amount of shift is ±11mm for full-frame cameras and ±8mm for medium format cameras, making it super easy to capture architectural and interior photography in a corrected perspective. Venus Optics Laowa F4 tilt-shift Lens to be Announced on March 28th

Venus Optics is rumored to announce a new wide-angle Laowa f/4 tilt-shift lens (or maybe only shift?) on March 28th. Venus Optics lenses are sold at Adorama and B&H.

Photo Rumors has posted a teaser image of the Venus Optics (LAOWA) shift lens. According to the image below, Venus Optics is rumored to announce the new F4 wide-angle tilt-shift lens on March 28th.

Since the title of the teaser is “Shift?”, it seems likely that the tilt mechanism is not installed. With the introduction of LAOWA brand relatively affordable shift lenses, you can feel free to try them out, unlike the expensive shift lenses made by camera makers.

Venus Optics already has the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift lens.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens Coming on April 14th

According to recent reports, the Nikon Nikkor Z 800mm f/6.3 VR PF S lens will be officially announced on April 14th.

B&H has published the product page for the NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S lens. The price is unknown at the moment but it will be significantly lower than expected because the new 800mm will be a PF lens. See explanation below.

As a comparison Canon announced their mirrorless RF 800mm f/5.6 L IS USM lens in late February for CP+ Show. The US price of RF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM Lens is $16,999. Also when we look at the Canon RF 400mm f/2.8 which is priced at $12,000 and the Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8 at $14,000. Nikon Z4 Rumored to be Announced Next

Nikon Z4 is on the way. According to latest rumors, Nikon is developing an entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera positioned below the Z5. The camera may be named the “Nikon Z4″.

The Nikon Z5 (Amazon, B&H, Adorama) is a highly capable and the most affordable Z-mount full-frame mirrorless camera introduced by Nikon to date.

In terms of design, the Nikon Z4 camera will not have an electronic viewfinder, and the overall body will also adopt a minimalist design.
