Tokina Opera 16-28mm f/2.8 FF Lens for Canon & Nikon DSLRs Announced

The new Tokina Opera 16-28mm f/2.8 FF Lens for Canon & Nikon full-frame DSLRs is now officially announced. The US price is $699 and pre-orders are now open at B&H Photo Video/Adorama. Shipping is scheduled to start on March 15th, 2019.

Distinguished by its bright design, the Tokina opera 16-28mm f/2.8 FF is a flexible wide-angle zoom well-suited to landscape, architectural, and astrophotography applications. The f/2.8 constant maximum aperture pairs with the broad field of view range to realize an ideal lens for working in available light conditions and for using shallow depth of field techniques. The optical design incorporates aspherical and low dispersion glass elements, which help to control distortion and color fringing throughout the zoom range in order to produce sharp, clear, and color-accurate imagery. Development of Tamron FE 17-28mm f/2.8, SP 35mm f/1.4, 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Lenses Announced

Tamron officially announces the development of three new full-frame lenses; two for Canon & Nikon full-frame DSLRs and one for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras.

The new Tamron lenses will be the SP 35mm F1.4 Di USD and 35-150mm F2.8-4 Di VC OSD for Canon and Nikon DSLRs, as well as an ultra-wide 17-28mm F2.8 Di III RXD for Sony E-mount cameras.

Tamron will display these new lenses at CP+ 2019, the World Premiere show for camera and photo imaging, beginning February 28 through March 3, 2019 at Pacifico Yokohama and at the Wedding and Portrait Professionals International (WPPI), February 27 through March 3, 2019 in Las Vegas.

Canon Announces the Development of Six New RF Lenses

Along with the new Canon EOS RP (B&H, Adorama, Amazon.) full frame mirrorless camera, Canon also announced the development of six RF lenses: RF 85mm F1.2 L USM, RF 85mm F1.2 L USM DS, RF 24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM, RF 15-35mm F2.8 L IS USM, RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM, RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM.

Fujifilm is rumored to announce a new  XF 16mm f/2.8 R WR lens. This will be a bright aperture wide-angle prime for Fujifilm X-series mirrorless cameras.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 lens officially announced

Olympus officially announced the new M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 MFT lens boasting a class-leading 16.6x magnification.

Designed for Micro Four Thirds system cameras the lens will provide a standard focal range of 24-400mm equiv. Even it’s not a PRO designated lens, Olympus claims that it offers the same dustproof and splashproof build quality as those lenses.

The 12-200mm F3.5-6.3 does not offer built-in stabilization, and will rely on camera body IS. The lens uses Olympus’ MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) focusing mechanism and provides quieter operation – particularly useful for shooting video. The company’s ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating is also employed to reduce flare and ghosting.

Canon RF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS Lens Patent

Here is a Canon patent application (2019-020679) for a RF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 IS lens. Designed for Canon full frame mirrorless camera system, this lens is the EOS R version of the budget-friendly telephoto zoom for the consumer market.
