Sony announced the “Airpeak S1” as the first model in Airpeak line. The drone has been developed with the intention of contributing to the further development of drones and the utmost in value creation.
Airpeak S1 users have the ability to choose between a variety of Alpha cameras to mount on their drone. The Alpha 9, 7S and 7R series are all compatible, as is the FX3. Sony’s Alpha 1, which is capable of shooting 8K video, is also available as an option.
The commercial drone, Airpeak S1 will be the world’s smallest drone able to be equipped with a full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens α camera, enabling dynamic and precise flight with high agility by using a proprietary motor, propeller, control system and sensing technology, and supporting the creative expression of its users to the fullest. It also supports the production of high-quality aerial images with a remote controller that can control the aircraft at will, obstacle detection and automatic flight control via sensing, and increased flight safety via cloud management of the aircraft and flight information.
The US price for Airpeak S1 is $9,000. The official release will be in fall 2021.

DJI has unveiled the DJI Air 2S which it claims is the first drone of its size to feature a 1-inch type sensor and capture 20Mp stills or 5.4K video. This size of sensor and video resolution has previously been the preserve of larger drones.
Follow up to the compact Mavic Air 2, which is priced at $799, the drone features a camera with a 1″ sensor, capable of capturing 20MP photos and up to 5.4K/30p or 4K/60p video. Improvements in its Spotlight 2.0 tracking capabilities, plus an upgraded APAS 4.0 obstacle avoidance and detection system, have also been added.
The Air 2S comes with sensors on top of the aircraft and also features four-way obstacle avoidance detection. According to DJI, APAS 4.0 offers a wider FOV for improved detection of obstructions. When recording up to 4K/30p video, the drone can instantly maneuver over, under and around obstacles.
DJI Care Refresh is available and covers incidents including water damage, flyaways and collisions. The Air 2S is now available for purchase starting at $999 for the drone, remote, one battery and basic parts. The new DJI Air 2S, a drone that promises to be a significant upgrade from the Mavic Air 2, will be officially announced very soon. The DJI Pocket 2 Gimbal Camera is now officially announced. The updated camera drops the Osmo nomenclature its predecessor bore and improves its performance across the board. Despite keeping its compact size, weighing just 117g (4.2oz), the Pocket 2 has a larger sensor and wider lens than the Osmo Pocket, which DJI claims has dramatically improve image quality for both photos and video.
The US price is $349, with a Creator Combo for $499. Shipping will begin on November 1, 2020.
