Upcoming Canon RF-mount Lenses for 2020

Nokishita Camera has just confirmed that Canon will announce 8 RF lenses in 2020. The official announcement for these new RF lenses could coming along with EOS R5 and EOS R6 in early July.

Canon has already announced f/2.8 zoom lenses, so it is time for the company to release some cheap and light f/4 zoom lenses. Canon will also release at least one “crazy look-what-we-can-do” lens (like RF 50mm f/1.2 L USM) in 2020. Canon RF 100mm f/2L IS USM Macro Lens to be Announced in Late 2020

According to the latest rumors, Canon RF 100mm f/2L IS USM Macro lens is in  hands of some selected photographers and will be announced later 2020.

Canon RF Lens Roadmap already includes the  but this will be better for its aperture and focal length.

The telephoto prime macro lens is expected to arrive in late 2020 and not much information more about it yet. Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 RF Lens for Canon EOS R System

Samyang unveils the new AF 85mm f/1.4 RF lens for Canon EOS R system. The lens can be preordered for $699 at Adorama.

The Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 RF lens is an autofocus short-telephoto (portrait) lens for Canon RF mount cameras. This lens delivers beautiful bokeh, outstanding image quality and fast, silent autofocusing.

Optically, the Samyang/Rokinon AF 85mm f/1.4 RF looks to be identical to the Sony FE version. There are 11 elements in 8 groups, including 1 Extra Low Dispersion (ED) element and 4 High Refractive Index (HRI) elements to cut down on chromatic aberration and allow for a smaller lens design, respectively, as well as the company’s Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) to eliminate ghosting and flare. New Canon Patent: RF 70-300mm f/3.5-5.6 & RF 100-500mm f/5.6-6.4 Lenses

Canon Japan has filed new  patents for RF mount lenses. The patent application describes the RF 70-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens & RF 100-500mm f/5.6-6.4 Lens.

Venus Optics released Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens Released for Canon RF and Nikon Z Mounts.

New Patent: Canon RF 8mm f/4 Fisheye Lens

Canon has filed a new lens patent for RF-mount full frame mirrorless cameras. The patent application describes the RF 8mm f/4 Fisheye lens which will be the first for Canon RF mount lineup.

Canon RF 85mm f/2 IS STM Lens Coming in 2020

Canon is rumored to be working on a new affordable RF 85mm f/2 IS STM lens. This new 85mm prime is expected to be announced in 2020.

In addition, Canon is planning to a whole line of f/2-f/2.8 non-L prime lenses with IS in the next 12 months. And these prime lenses will range from 18mm to 85mm.

Canon currently has two 85mm RF lenses for Canon EOS R and EOS RP mirrorless cameras: RF 85mm f/1.2L USM Lens ($2,699) and RF 85mm f/1.2L USM DS “Defocus Smoothing” lens ($2,999).

This is the first time we’ve heard such a RF 85mm f/2 IS STM lens coming. So just take it with a grain of salt until we can confirm the information above.

The Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM lens is in stock and shipping at major stores in US. The price of the lens is $2,699 and available at B&H Photo Video/Adorama/Amazon.

Fotodiox Unveils EF-to-L Lens Adapter with Full Electronic Functions

Fotodiox has announced the new Fotodiox Pro Fusion Adapter that lets you mount Canon EF (and EF-S) lenses onto Leica L (and T) cameras. The new Canon EF to L-Mount Pro Fusion adapter offers complete electronic control and communication between the lens and the camera it’s attached to. while retaining the full range of automated functions.

The adapter works with both EF and EF-S lenses and converts them to L-Mount mirrorless cameras. It features an all-metal design with chrome-plated brass mounts and features a built-in Micro USB for updating the firmware of the adapter.

The mount itself features an all-metal construction with a chrome-plated brass mount that delivers an exact and snug fit. It measures 2.6×2.6×1.1 inches (6.5×6.5×2.9cm) and weighs 0.3 pounds (0.14kg).

The adapter is backed by a two-year manufacturer warranty, comes packed inside a padded bamboo box and is currently available to purchase for $179.95 (B&H).

Canon has just filed two new lens patents RF 85mm f/1.8 lens and RF 100mm f/2.8 lens. New Canon patents are for RF-mount and will be designed for company’s full frame mirrorless cameras.
