Patent: Canon RF 24-100mm f/2.8L, RF 24-300mm f/4-5.6 and 24-85mm f/2.8L Lenses

Canon has filed three new patents for RF mount superzoom lenses with f/2.8 bright aperture. The patent application describes the Canon RF 24-100mm f/2.8L, RF 24-300mm f/4-5.6 and 24-85mm f/2.8L lenses designed for the company’s full frame EOS R system.

The Canon RF 24-300mm f/4-5.6 lens will be a consumer oriented glass and the focal range is ideal for travel photography. Canon previously filed several RF superzoom lens patents. Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 & RF f/2.8 Pancake Lenses Coming in 2020

Canon will also announce two inexpensive prime lenses for Canon EOS R and EOS RP full frame mirrorless cameras in 2020.

The first one is an RF f/2.8 Pancake lens, which is definitely in the works. This small and lightweight optic is expected to be announced sometime in the first half of 2020. Maybe it will have the same design as the current EF 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens.

Canon Focuses on RF Lenses, no New EF Lens Unless Market Demands It

During the EOS-1D X Mark III launch event, Canon has confirmed that they are now focus on RF lenses and EOS R mirrorless system. Canon said that there will be no new EF mount lenses unless they are demanded by the market.

Rumored Canon EOS R Mark II Specs : 32MP, IBIS, 12fps, DIGIC X

Check out the rumored specs of rumored Canon EOS R Mark II. The full frame mirrorless camera is expected to feature 32MP full frame image sensor, IBIS, 12fps burst and diferent version of DIGIC X image processor.

The EOS R Mark II will be a fast camera and the DIGIC X image processor will be slightly different then the 1D X Mark III.

As previously noted Canon is working on to implement DUAL IS feature in next generation of professional mirrorless cameras including Canon EOS R Mark II. The Dual IS function will include Sensor shift Image stabilization (IBIS) as well as support for lens IS so they will work together in video and in still mode.

Canon RF 70-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens Coming in 2020

Latest rumors suggests that Canon will announce another telephoto zoom lens. The product would be the RF 70-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens and it will arrive sometime in 2020.

The RF-series lens was previously mentioned in a patent application. While the Canon RF 70-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens offers a wider range in focal length, it will be particularly well-suited for wildlife and bird photography. Canon EOS Ra Review : Astrophotography Road Trip

Here is a recent Canon EOS Ra review which the modified version of EOS R camera dedicated to astrophotography.

Canon has modified the IR filter in front of the full-frame sensor, to allow the EOS Ra to capture four times the amount of hydrogen alpha rays (656nm wavelength) compared to the standard EOS R camera. Canon EOS Ra also offers a 30x magnification option in the EVF and in Live View, a significant increase from the 10x magnification found in the standard EOS R.
