Sony a1 & a7S III Firmware Updates Officially Announced

In addition to the Sony a9 III (B&H /Adorama ) & FE 300mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens (B&H/Adorama ), Sony also announced the new firmware updates for firmware updates for a1 & a7S III cameras.

Firmware Updates for the Alpha 1 and Alpha 7S III Models

In addition to the release of Alpha 9 III, Sony has announced new firmware updates for the Alpha 1 and Alpha 7S III full-frame mirrorless cameras xvii. The new software will provide both models with some of Sony’s latest imaging technologies including the highly requested Focus Breathing Compensation feature, IPTC and FTP workflow enhancement, and C2PA format support. The firmware will also update the Alpha 1 with Relay Playback, and the Alpha 7S III with DCI 4K 24.00P shooting format. The camera software update will be available in Spring 2024.

New Firmware Updates Announced for Panasonic S5II And S5IIX

Panasonic has announced a new firmware update program for its LUMIX S5II and S5IIX cameras to enhance performance and usability.

The S5II Firmware Version 2.2 / S5IIX Firmware Version 1.3 will improve/update:

  • AF-Point Scope function – AF-Point Scope function to magnify the focus position during AF has been added.
  • High-Resolution Mode – The shutter speed at high-resolution mode can now be set to max. 8 seconds with the long exposure noise reduction applied. Thanks to the image stabilizer, [Handheld High-Res] mode has been added to enable recording pictures with higher resolution even without using a tripod.
  • Improved MF Assist – It is now possible to magnify the full-screen mode display in MF Assist up to approx. 20x allowing more precise MF.

The firmware program will be available to download free of charge from the LUMIX Global Customer Support website.

DJI Mini 4 Pro Officially Announced, Available for Pre-Order

DJI has just announced the DJI Mini 4 Pro, the latest model in its Mini series of compact and foldable sub-250g drones.

The single camera on the Mini 4 Pro has a Type 1/1.3 CMOS sensor with dual native ISO, a 24mm (equiv.) lens, and a fixed F1.7 aperture. It can capture 48MP images and rests on a 3-axis gimbal that can tilt 60º upward. The camera is capable of cropping in up to 2X for photos and up to 4X when capturing video.

The Mini 4 Pro with DJI RC-N2 Remote Controller and one Intelligent Flight battery starts at $759. This same package, with the RC 2 Remote Controller, is $959. The DJI Mini 4 Pro Fly More Combo, which includes the RC 2, three Intelligent Flight batteries, a two-way charging hub, and a carrying bag costs $1,099 while the Fly More Combo Plus, with Intelligent Flight Plus batteries that power the drone up to 45 minutes, comes out to $1,159.
