Sony a7R IIIA and a7R IVA Officially Announced

Sony quietly announced two small updated version of their current a7R III and a7R IV cameras: Sony a7R IIIA (LCE-7RM3A) and Sony a7R IVA (ILCE-7RM4A).

Both new models include several upgrades from the a7R III and a7R IV cameras. Pre-orders should be open soon at Adorama and B&H.

Here are the changes on the Sony a7R IIIA and a7R IVA cameras

  • LCD screen resolution changed from 1.44 million dots to 2,359,296 dots
  • Both cameras are now compatible with USB 3.2 (SuperSpeed USB 5Gbps)
  • No Sony logo under the LCD screen (see above picture)
  • The battery life has also been updated

Fujifilm introduces Instax Mini 40 instant camera

Fujifilm has introduced the Instax Mini 40, its latest instant camera. The Instax Mini 40 is essentially the Mini 11 in a different body, which means that you’re getting a 35mm equivalent lens, auto-exposure, a built-in flash and selfie mirror.

The Mini 40 is priced at $100 and will be available by the end of April. Pre-orders are open at B&H and Amazon.

It’s Official : Ricoh Announces Pentax K-3 Mark III DSLR Camera

Ricoh officially announced its flagship Pentax K-3 Mark III APS-C format DSLR camera. The US price is $1,999.95, and it will be available for pre-order on April 6 at 5 p.m. ET. Shipping is scheduled to start in late April 2021. A matching battery grip D-BG8 is among the optional accessories launched alongside the camera.

61MP Sigma fp L Mirrorless Camera with L-mount Priced at $2,499

Sigma has announced the new Sigma fp L mirrorless camera with L-mount. The new Sigma fp L comes with a 61mp Full-frame BSI CMOS sensor, phase-detection auto focus and 10fps continuous shooting.

Sigma fp L can capture UHD 4K 30p video internally and can output 12-bit Cinema DNG Raw to an external SSD. It can also output a Raw video feed over HDMI that can be encoded as ProRes RAW or Blackmagic RAW, depending on what type of recorder you attach. High speed FullHD recording at up to 120 fps is supported, though with a crop.

Price and Availability

The Sigma fp L will be available in mid-April for $2499 body-only, or $2999 with the EVF. The EVF-11, as it is officially known, will be sold on its own for $699, and is compatible with the original Sigma fp.

Sony announces FE 50mm f2.5 G, FE 40mm f2.5 G, FE 24mm f2.8 G lenses

Sony has announced three new full-frame lenses, the FE 50mm F2.5 G (model SEL50F25G), FE 40mm F2.5 G (model SEL40F25G) and FE 24mm F2.8 G (model SEL24F28G). All three lenses are the same size, almost the same weight, and the same price ($599).

Designed for Sony Full Frame E-mount system,  the lenses all measure 64 x 45mm (2.5 x 1.8 in.) and weigh between 162-174 grams (5.7-6.1 ounces).

They all use aspherical elements to maintain high resolution and reduce various aberrations, while the 24mm and 50mm lenses additionally use ED (extra-low dispersion) glass to reduce chromatic aberrations and fringing. The focus groups are driven by dual linear motors for silent and nearly instantaneous autofocus in our initial impressions.

Panasonic Firmware Updates for Lumix S1, S1H, S1R, S5 and BGH1

Panasonic has announced major firmware updates for its LUMIX S Series full-frame mirrorless cameras DC-S1H (Ver.2.4), DC-S1 (Ver.2.0), DC-S1R (Ver.1.8), DC-S5 (Ver.2.2) and its Micro Four Thirds box-style mirrorless camera DC-BGH1 (Ver.2.0) to further enhance functions, performance and usability.

The 7artisans 7.5mm F2.8 Mark II Fisheye lens is available to buy now for $139 in Sony E, Fuji X, Nikon Z and Micro Four Thirds mounts.

The manual focus lens is comprised of 11 elements in 9 groups to provide that wide f/2.8 maximum aperture, with a 7-blade diaphragm. They say that two HOYA Ultra-low Dispersion elements help to improve colour and contrast across the 190° field of view.

Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM Lens Announced, Price $1,998
