Canon has filed new patents in Japan. These applications are for three super telephoto prime lenses named as RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens, RF 500mm f/4L IS USM Lens, and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM Lens.
We already know that the first super telephoto prime glass in RF-series lens lineup will be the RF 500mm f/4L. In the past, Canon tends to announce super telephoto prime lenses in pairs, so it is a possibility to expect another one like RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens.
These rumored super telephoto prime lenses for Canon full frame mirrorless cameras are expected to arrive in 2020 to 2021. So they are not in the list of Canon RF Lens Roadmap 2020.
Before that we’ll meet the “holy trinity” RF mount lenses” by the end of July, 2019. The mirrorless glasses are the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens, RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lenses.
