Olympus E-M1X video features review

Dpreview posted a video review of the Olympus E-M1X camera about its video features. While Olympus isn’t known for the video features on its cameras, the OM-D EM1X is the company’s most advanced model.

Most video features of Olympus E-M1X are unchanged from the E-M1 II. There’s a new ability to change autofocus points during video capture using a dedicated joystick control, and a new maximum frame rate of 120 fps for Full HD or HD capture. You can shoot 4K video (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second, and Full HD or HD (1,280 x 720 pixels) at 24, 25, 30, 50, 60 or 120 frames per second. Olympus Released Firmware Updates For The E-M1, E-M1 Mark II, E-M5 Mark II, PEN-F

In addition to the OM-D E-M1 X camera, M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS Pro super tele-zoom lens and M.Zuiko MFT Lens Roadmap 2019 – 2020, Olympus also announced firmware updates for current cameras and lenses.

The new firmware simply adds support for the Olympus FL-700WR Electronic Flash ($399.99 at AmazonB&HAdorama).  New firmware updates the Olympus cameras such as E-M1 Mark II, E-M5 Mark II, E-M1 and PEN-F.

Olympus E-M1X and Sony A7III Freeze Test

Tony Northrup put the newly announced Olympus E-M1X and Sony A7 III camera to freeze test.

Tony’s extreme brutal testing involved by freezing the Olympus E-M1X (Adorama | B&H | Amazon) in ice with a Sony a7 III to test the weather sealing. Then, he did some astrophotography shots to test the eye detect autofocus and portraits, low-light autofocus, sports, stabilization (4 seconds handheld!), Hi-res mode (both tripod and handheld high res), and the built-in ND filter.

Olympus Announced Weather-Resistant Wireless Flash FL-700WR, Wireless Commander FC-WR and Wireless Receiver FR-WR

In addition the Olympus OM-D E-M1X, and  lens and the updated Olympus M.Zuiko MFT Lens Roadmap, Olympus officially announced a new Electronic Flash, the FL-700WR, Wireless Commander FC-WR, and Wireless Receiver FR-WR, all coming in late February 2019 and designed to meet the growing demands of professional photographers.

Updated Olympus M.Zuiko MFT Lens Roadmap 2019 – 2020

In addition the Olympus OM-D E-M1X, and  lens, the company released an updated Micro Four Thirds lens  roadmap for 2019 – 2020, including a new 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS Pro lens coming in 2020.

Olympus ED 150-400mm f/4.5 Pro Lens with Built-in 1.25X Teleconverter in Development

Along with the Olympus OM-D E-M1X, Olympus today also announced the development of a new super telephoto zoom lens: Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm f/4.5 TC 1.25x IS PRO Lens.

Designed for Micro Four Thirds system cameras the lens will provide a standard focal range of 300-800mm equiv. and with a built-in 1.25X teleconverter it becomes 375-1000mm equiv., at the cost of 2/3-stop of light. The lens will also be compatible with Olympus’ new MC-20 2X teleconverter.

The Olympus 150-400mm F4.5 Pro lens will be stabilized and work with the 5-axis IS systems built into modern Olympus cameras for extra shake reduction. Fully weather-sealed lens from Olympus could work at temperatures as low as -10°C/+14°F.

Olympus OM-D E-M1X Announced with World’s Best Image Stabilisation

Olympus has announced the  Olympus OM-D E-M1X, featuring an integrated vertical grip and improved image stabilisation performance featuring a re-developed and fast autofocus system, and up to 7.5 EV steps of compensation.  The new high-end professional mirrorless camera primarily designed for speed, with dual TruePic VIII processors, an all-cross-type 121-point hybrid AF system with ‘Intelligent Subject Detection’, and 60 fps continuous shooting (18 with continuous AF).

The camera features a 20.4 megapixel live MOS sensor with improved supersonic wave filter for dust reduction and a dust, splash and freezeproof body. There is also the capability to produce a 50-megapixel high res handheld shot by combining several captures. The Olympus OM-D E-M1X can shoot video in 4K, and has 2 UHS-II SD card slots as well as 2 batteries in an innovative cartridge system.

Olympus released several Olympus OM-D E-M1 X teaser to show a few quick glances at a new high-end OM-D mirrorless camera in action. Along with the E-M1X, the company will also release a new FL-700WR Flash, FR-WR Receiver and the FC-WR Commander.

Olympus E-M1X specs, the camera will feature a new 20 megapixel sensor, a 50 megapixel handheld high-resolution shooting mode. The specs will also include 18fps burst shooting, and an incredible 7.5 stops of image stabilisationThe price of the Olympus E-M1X sports camera is expected to be around $3,000
