Olympus has announced the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm f/4 PRO lens which is the world’s most compact and lightweight high-performance standard zoom lens fixed aperture.

This is one of the lenses of three that is announced in the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital Lens roadmap. The ultra-compact M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm F4.0 PRO lens has a filter size. The lens is remarkably compact; it’s 70mm (2.8″) long and weighs just 254 grams (9 ounces). It is also weather-sealed, to IPX1 standards.
The Olympus 12-45mm F4 Pro will be available in April for $649 at Amazon, Adorama, B&HPhoto.
The Olympus 12-45mm f/4 PRO has a total of 12 elements, including HR (high refractive), Super HR, DSA (dual super aspheric), aspherical and ED (extra-low dispersion) glass. A ‘ZERO’ coating reduces flare, ghosting and other aberrations. The lens can focus as close as 12cm (4.7″) and has a maximum magnification of 0.5x.
