According to a recent reports, Nikon plans to release two new DSLRs in 2021 along with several new F-mount lenses.
Apparently, Nikon has stated that it has not stopped the development of DSLRs because the company is not quite ready to give up on the F-mount. We also know and see that the majority of research and development moves are focused on mirrorless. Especially in 2020 we’ve met several Nikon Z cameras and lenses. So what could be these two Nikon DSLRs that are expected to be announced in 2021.
The Nikon D3500 is an entry-level 24.2-megapixel DX format DSLR Nikon F-mount camera announced by Nikon on August 30, 2018. However the D3500 isn’t that old though, and it was a pretty minor refresh over the D3400. For this segment Nikon could wait and pass a year easily.
What we expect is that Nikon will announce Nikon D580 (successor of Nikon D500) and Nikon D880 (D850 successor) in 2021. Check out the expected specifications of Nikon D580 and Nikon D880.

The almost 4 years old Nikon D850 DSLR camera is currently sold out at all three major US retailers: Amazon, B&H, Adorama. The Nikon D880 specs looks legit and almost the same as published at DCN.
As a result, we are not sure if Nikon’s line-up of DSLR cameras will last up to the next five years. It is very likely that 2021 will be some of the last DSLRs Nikon has released to the market. Regardless, it will be nice to expect a few more cameras and lenses this year for DSLR shooters!
So what do you think these DSLRs will be? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
