Latest Updates on Sony a7R V Specifications

We have the Sony A7R V announcement date rumored as October 26th. Before the official announceent, two rumor sites have shared the first specifications of the upcoming Sony a7R V mirrorless camera.

The main conflict is on the sensor resolution. Sony A7R V might feature 61MP or 63MP sensor. However both sites mentions that the main improvement in image quality will be achieved by a faster processor. So the sensor of the A7rV will have mostly the SAME resolution as the previous A7r IV. Here are the details:

PhotoRumors shared a specification list for the Sony a7R V from a certain reader.

  • 63 MP Sensor
  • Next Generation of Bikonz X image processor
  • 8K 30p and 4K 120p 10bit
  • S-Cinetone
  • 5-Axis Steady Shot Image Stabilization
  • Dual Drive Shutter tech
  • 9.44m-Dot EVF
  • Dual CFexpress Type A/SD Card Slots

In addition, SAR has posted the Sony a7R V specs obtained from a reliable source.

  • Same 61MP sensor because all the power goes to the new processor.
  • TOTALLY New Autofocus system with AI deep learning
  • 8k 24p (cropped)
  • 4k60p 4k24p (full read out)
  • S cinetone is available
  • 8 stop IBIS (unclear yet if “native” or with “gyro data”)
  • Body looks like a mix between the Sony a7S III and Sony a7 IV.
