A classic has been reinvented with the SIGMA 35mm F/1.4 DG DN Art. With excellent optical performance, fast and silent autofocus and professional features, this prime lens is a valuable addition to any photographer.
This 35mm lens is part of Sigma’s Art line. In fact, the high-end product line started in 2012 with this lens’ predecessor: the 35mm F / 1.4 DG HSM Art. The new version has been completely redesigned for today’s system cameras. It is smaller and lighter, so that the camera and lens are perfectly balanced.
You can enjoy exceptional sharpness from corner to corner and at all apertures. Optical aberrations are kept to a minimum by an advanced optical design. The lens contains 15 lens elements in 11 groups, of which two are Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements, one Extraordinary Low Dispersion (ELD) elements, one ‘F’ Low Dispersion (FLD) elements and two aspherical lens elements. The bokeh is beautifully soft and attractive with 11 rounded aperture blades. The lens is very bright with F / 1.4, yet sagital coma flare wide-open is very well controlled and bright points of light to the edge of the image are prevented. The 35mm lens also performs very well in backlighting because a lot of attention has been paid to reducing flare and ghosting.
The autofocus system is powered by a stepper motor. This is done very quickly, quietly and responsively because the motor only controls a lightweight element. Moving subjects are also tracked very effectively.
The lens is equipped with various professional features. An aperture ring ensures that you can adjust the aperture on the lens clicklessly. To prevent this from happening accidentally, it is equipped with a lock switch. The AFL button can be used for various functionalities (depending on the camera body). This button is easy to operate with your thumb during shooting. To ensure that you can shoot in all weather conditions, the lens has a dust and splash-proof construction and the front elements are provided with an oil and water-repellent coating.
