Here is a recent talk about the Fujifilm X-T40 which will be the successor to the X-T30.

As you know, Fuji’s 2021 projection does not have a new X-series camera announcement. Besides, we almost 100% confirmed that the next X series camera from Fujifilm will be the “Fujifilm X-H2“, which is rumored to feature a new sensor and new image processor. Fujifilm GFX 100S Review : Gets 90% Overall Score and Gold Award

DPReview has published full in-depth review and test results for the Fujifilm GFX 100S. The medium format camera achieves an excellent 90% overall score and Gold Award from the experts at DPReview.

The Fujifilm GFX100S price tag is $5,999 and available for pre-order from AmazonB&HAdorama in the USA. It will cost £5,499 in EUAmazonDE / AmazonUK.

Fujifilm GFX 100S Key Features:

  • 102MP 43.8 x 32.9mm BSI CMOS Sensor
  • X-Processor 4 Image Processor
  • 4K30 Video; F-Log Gamma, 12-Bit Raw Out
  • 3.69m-Dot OLED EVF
  • 3.2″ 2.36m-Dot Tilting Touchscreen LCD
  • 5-Axis Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization
  • 425-Point Phase-Detection Autofocus
  • ISO 100-12800, Up to 5 fps Shooting
  • 400MP Pixel Shift Multi-Shot
  • 19 Film Simulation Modes

What we like:

  • Excellent image quality across the ISO range
  • Exceptional detail levels
  • Very good tonal quality maintained into shadow regions
  • Choice of Raw compression
  • Image stabilization makes it easy to achieve full resolution
  • Comfortable ergonomics and decent level of button/dial customization
  • Relatively compact form factor
  • Impressive video capabilities
  • USB charging is convenient

What we don’t:

  • Autofocus performance varies significantly between lenses
  • Face/Eye AF not as reliable as its FF rivals
  • AF Tracking not as sticky
  • No tracking AF in video
  • Line-skipped video doesn’t give full sensor low-light performance
  • Comparatively low battery life
  • Viewfinder isn’t very high resolution

Conclusion from DPReview:

The Fujifilm GFX 100S is the smallest, least expensive way to achieve image quality beyond what full-frame can currently offer. You lose some responsiveness and flexibility in return for that, but as an image-making tool the GFX is excellent. It’s also a surprisingly capable video camera but its smaller battery risks being more limiting than it is for stills shooting. Impressive in the studio and beyond.

Good for

Landscapes, portraiture, studio work

Not so good for

Fast-paced action and scenarios that require rapid responses

Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 Mark II and XF 56mm f/1.2 Mark II in Development

According to the latest rumors from FR,  Fujifilm is working to renew two of its popular primes. As a result Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 Mark II and XF 56mm f/1.2 Mark II lenses are in development.

The Fujifilm X-mount Lens Roadmap doesn’t show these prime models. So take it with a grain of salt.

The current Fujifilm XF 23mm F1.4 lens (Amazon) was released in 2013, and Fujifilm XF 56mm F1.2 lens (Amazon) was released in 2014.

We are wondering if the new model will be a full model change with a completely redesigned optical system or a minor change with improved AF and being sealed.

Fujifilm XF 18mm f/1.4 R LM WR Lens Officially Announced

The Fujifilm XF 18mm f/1.4 R WR Lens is now officially announced. The Fujifilm XF 18mm f/1.4 R LM WR is a fast prime lens for X Series mirrorless cameras that provides a 35mm equivalent focal length of 27mm.

Fujifilm already have a 27mm lens in diminutive shape of the XF 18mm F2, which was actually one of the very first lenses that Fuji released back in 2012. The XF 18mm F1.4 is a much larger lens than the 18mm F2, but it’s still relatively small and light enough to feel well-balanced even on the X-S10 that we tested it with, which is one of the smaller X-series camera bodies.

Weighing 370g and measuring 68.8mm x 75.6mm with a reasonable 62mm filter size, the new 18mm is very similar to the 16mm, 23mm and 35mm lenses. The Fujifilm XF 18mm F1.4 R LM WR lens will be available in late May for $999.
