Canon Rumors : EOS R5C Coming in late 2021

Here are the latest Canon rumors about full frame mirrorless system. It’s suggested that a cinema version of the EOS R5 might be released in the name of EOS R5C.

Yes, you read that right, the cinema version of the EOS R5. The reason it is expressed in this way is the “C” symbol in the name EOS R5C. According to latest Canon rumors, the new video-focused Canon EOS R5C camera will be announced towards the end of 2021.

The EOS R5C camera will have the same sensor technology as the EOS R5 (AmazonB&H). It will be able to record 4K/120P with no crop and do 2.8K supersampling in super35 mode. There is, however, a noteworthy detail coming with the rumor: the EOS R5c will have a bigger body and active cooling. See the rest of the Canon EOS R5C specs below:

  • Name: Canon EOS R5C
  • The same image sensor as the Canon EOS R5 (45MP)
  • The same recording options as the Canon EOS R5 (8K30 Raw and 4K120 10-Bit Internal Video)
  • 2.8K supersampling in super35 mode
  • A slightly bigger body with the active cooling system
  • Dual Pixel AF performance in low light better than EOS R5 and EOS R6.
  • Remain a hybrid camera for stills shooting
  • C-Log 2

Firmware updates for the EOS R5, EOS R6, EOS-1D X Mark III

Firmware updates for the Canon EOS R5, EOS R6 and EOS-1D X Mark III are now ready to get released in the next weeks.

All three cameras will get C-Log 3 and new compression modes for 4K recording. For the Canon EOS R5 and EOS-1D X Mark III also expect a Cinema RAW Light feature. The EOS R5 will likely also get 1080p @120fps video recording. Most likely the new firmware version are already actively tested by selected photographers.
