Sigma has announced a new Contemporary-series full-frame mirrorless zoom lens, the 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary. The US price is $899 and it is now available for pre-order at B&H Photo / Amazon and Adorama. Shipping is scheduled to start on March 12, 2021.
Available in Sony E and Leica L mounts, the 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN C lens is based on Sigma’s existing 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art lens, but starting the new zoom’s focal length at 28mm results in a significantly smaller and lighter lens without sacrificing optical performance. It will compete against the Tamron 28-75mm FE. Normal-length zoom lens is designed for Sony Full Frame E-Mount cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an 42mm – 105 equivalent focal length.
