Here are the latest reviews, samples and hands-on videos of the Nikon Z5 full frame mirrorless cameras. Before head over to the details let’s make a quick recap of the Z5.
The Nikon Z5 is made in Thailand but the name of the sensor manufacturer and the sensor pixel pitch is confidential. Nikon Z5 uses a different sensor from the Z6 and Z7 and it is actually a mid-level FX-format model. This means Nikon still have a room for a real “entry-level camera i guess. The full-frame mirrorless camera that looks and handles a lot like the Z6, and offers a lot of the same features.
The Nikon Z5 (Amazon, B&H, Adorama) uses a 24MP CMOS sensor, paired with an Expeed 6 processor, but it is not the same BSI-CMOS chip that we’ve seen in the Z6. The Z5’s sensor is probably closely related to the last-generation sensors in the likes of the Nikon D750. Despite its entry-level positioning, the Z5 offers a minimum exposure time of 1/8000sec, which enables wide-aperture shooting in bright conditions.
Anyway enough of the features of Z5, let’s dive into additional coverage.
Nikon Z5 Reviews
Nikon Z5 review at Photographyblog.
All said and done, the Z5 camera represents a positive step from Nikon – and one that would seem even more desirable for those trading up from smartphones or budget DSLRs in its range if it were a little more affordable still.
Nikon Z5 review at Digitalcameraworld.
The Z5 is a very good entry-level full frame camera, but its relatively high launch price may just persuade some potential purchasers that it’s worth forking out the relatively little extra for the Z6. Compared to other brands, the Z5 is neither cheap nor expensive. The Canon EOS RP is much cheaper to buy, but lacks the Z5’s 4K video, while the Sony A7 III and Panasonic S1 are somewhat more advanced cameras and not exactly direct rivals. The Z5 is competent, attractive and affordable, but its price pitches it against a host of cameras which can boast exactly the same thing.
